  17. Gen X and Millennials with Boomer parents, this is going to affect us. We have enough to worry about with student loans, stagnant wages, a housing crisis, rising costs of everything from groceries to healthcare, and our own children/nuclear family to care for. Now we can add on dependent Boomer parents who voted for this.

    I cut all contact with my mother over a year ago. I don’t know what her plan is, but after the awful things she has said and done to me and my nuclear family, I hope she doesn’t think I’m going to pick up the pieces. I’m struggling enough with my own medical bills and student loans, and it’s looking like we’ll never even own a house.

  19. Lmfao! It’s only wrong because it’s a fund for citizens. Here’s where this is going everyone, hate to ruin the surprise:
    – Increase social security to match life expectancy making it unattainable for most people (especially in a country with a decreasing lifetime).
    – Increase contributions to social security by 1-2%.
    – Add loopholes into the management of the social security fund, allowing it to become a large slush fund for the wealthy – to cover tax cuts, contracts, and whatever else Congress wants to do with it.
    – Drain the accounts constantly thanks to the loophole above, consistently complain that the fund isn’t viable, continue increasing contributions every 5-10 years.

    Congratulations, America. This is how social security becomes your third federal tax funding only the wealthy. In case you were asleep, the first slush fund for the rich is your marginal 15% federal income tax and the second is your 25% federal flat tax (Trump Tariffs). And once social security becomes a big ole slush fund you’ll never touch, you can expect to pay 15% into that.

    I just can’t say it enough – congratulations! You just voted your way into a 40% wage cut because you worship the wealthy. And with inflation going up? Ouch!

  29. My uncle was boasting about how great Trump would be and called bullshit when my cousins told him repeatedly that Trump would be coming to gut Social Security and Medicare. During the election cycle and right after he was calling all of us stupid and sheep for believing anything the Democrats say…full on MAGA.

    My cousin’s told him that if he lost his SS and Medicare that they wouldn’t bail him out and he’d have to figure out his own care (he’s in his late 70s and not doing well health wise).

    The past few days, according to my cousins, he’s been ‘jokingly’ saying to my cousins that “you guys wouldn’t leave me to fend for myself, right?” And then got really huffy when my cousin’s said told him they were serious and that he could finally live in a world where people support themselves through their own hard work and that he’ll need to go back to work cuz they’ll be busy supporting their own families.

    They think it’s dawning on him that he royally screwed himself.
