    Macron needs to realize that America cannot be relied on for the next 4 years. Macron needs to take matters into his own hands and help Ukraine.

    I realize a unified EU political strategy is seemingly impossible … I get it … I get that they have right wing pro-putin parties on the move in all their nations … yep.

  5. Why would Macron say this — does he think by saying the absolute opposite of what Trump is already doing, he will be tricked into reversing? Trump has been bought. He is owned by Putin and Musk. He has no negotiating power. All is being set in motion.

  7. As has been noted by many Trump is unpredictable. I don’t think anyone predicted his recent behavior towards Zelensky and Ukraine. I hope it’s part of some negotiation “mind games” he’s playing, and he’ll surprise us again when he meets Putin and the negotiations start.

  11. As an example of what Macron is saying- Apparently we’ve got Chinese ships doing some live firing between Australia and NZ just today.

    Airlines were apparently warned directly by the Chinese rather than through our traffic control.

  14. What world is Macron living in? Does he think Trump cares about Taiwan? If he doesn’t even care about NATO, Canada, or his closest and most strategically important allies, why will he bat an eyelid when China invades Taiwan? I can almost see the tweet “NOT our war. We should stay OUT of it.”

    But it is very nearly past that point.

    The americans are making business deals with the russians – and that means they have incentive (and likely requirements) for russia to win/to get as much as they can. The US will not be pushing for the best outcome for Ukraine – or Europe – or the world. If EU, and UK don’t understand this crucial point, before going into talks with the US – they are in big trouble. I mean the lies, blackmail and threats from the US should have been enough for them to understand this already. And appealing to trump is like pissing in the wind. It will be as fruitful as appealing to putin.

    The US peace plans are about as trustworthy as the kremlin’s.
