  1. Anyone suprised? If you followed Trumps earlier discussions with Putin he actually said that the baltic states was within Russias intressest area.

  2. More like US is on its own while the EU has friends and allies.

  3. The west existed before the U.S. were part of it, and it will prevail.

  4. The rest of the world need to publicly and loudly declare Trump unfit for office. So much damage done already. USA please sort yourselves out.

  5. Good that Trump made us wake up, i expect a Europe that will steam ahead on innovation, arms and economic progress once we free ourselves for the chains that we put on our own legs.

    Then we can meet the USA in a new balance of power in 3 years and 10 months when the Trump era stops again.

  6. I think it will make a few UK Brexiters (of course not all) start to comprehend the arguments about Russian social media involvement in the 2016 referendum…

  7. Europe must be prepared for war with RuZZia backed by the traitor states of America.

  8. We fought two world wars. We can fight another one if it comes to that. And TRUMPUTIN will face the same fate as their idol AH.

  9. Let the West “be over” if it means Europe is to rise. A proactive and even aggressive Europe that pursues its own interests and the interests of its allies ferociously, boldly, and without wasting time on fruitless nonsense. The age of wishy-washy politics and mindsets based around “good intentions” is over and Europe must act like a tiger among hyenas. I have always resented the mellow, glib mindset of Western Europe since I knew it would lead to failure. I’m hoping this brings them to their senses. A dash of realpolitik and viciousness is needed in this world, and it was not us who chose it to be this way. Our hands are clean, but we must play this game to win.

  10. The problem is that they have made sure that we have the enemy inside, paying and promoting anti European alt-right wing movements. We are doomed.

  11. “Amerika has no friends or allies, only interests” (~Kissinger).

  12. American Culture? Europe IS “The West” these crypto fascists LARP. Europe is waking up. Time to take responsibility.

  13. Lol, no. The west is not over, just US is not part of it anymore.

  14. The west still exists. Remember that Canada, Australia, New Zealand and many other nations are on our side.

  15. We can write it 100 times more, shout it from every roof. Until politicians start taking actions this are just empty words. Some of these actions is turning off the propaganda maschines of our enemies, look hard where some of those anti eu groups get their money and then stop the enemies of europe and human rights to influence our elections.

  16. That is quite a line :
    “[Europe] should summon the spirit of de Gaulle and tell the US that its time on the continent is over. As for the dead Americans in military cemeteries? For now, at least, it is in Europe that the values they sacrificed themselves for still endure.”

  17. Europe is not on its own

    There’s a new axis set – in no specific order

    * Russia – USA
    * China
    * India
    * Europe + CANZUK + Japan + South Korea – supporting Ukraine(When Ukraine wins they’ll be a part of this)

  18. I thought the whole point of America is that one man can’t unilaterally decide to do all this. The President is a powerful figure head, but he can’t just do all this can he? Really?

  19. Problem is… Joe saw this coming back in 1995. He also knew that EU won’t survive without USA. Great and passionate speach, but if you care only about today’s events, switch to about 12th minute. It also explains why he, rightfully, was supporting Ukraine as much as possible.

  20. Finland, Poland, Sweden …. I hope collectively they disillusion Czar Vladimir the Last of his empire ambitions

  21. In one hand I’m glad the media reports it this way, but realistically it’s the US that’s screwed. Europe still has many allies in the east and the west, whether it be Canada, Mexico and many South American countries or Australia, and many Asian countries (at this point I’d even say China is more of an ally than the USA). US has burned bridges with most of the world, they’re only damaging themselves. The west isn’t over, it just doesn’t include the USA anymore

  22. And somehow it shouldnt be that much of a bad thing but we postponed our autonomy for too long and have so much work to do now.

    Let’s hope that we take advantage of that new dynamic instead of staying divided

  23. People should actually read this instead of throwing out five word comments. It’s bang on the money and watching ‘Europe leaders are shocked by [insert trump admin comment]’ is fucking maddening.

  24. Trump seems to be gearing up to face China (as Biden was) by cozying up with Russia instead of trying to neutralize it (as Biden was). This might mean it’s the Pacific that the US will want to focus next leaving the Atlantic open for Russia and Europe to fight for.

    Europe needs a nuclear umbrella of their own yesterday.

  25. I really hope the European nations learn their lesson on being dependent on others.

    No more relying on Russian energy, no more relying on US military support. Start projects to develop their own equipment asap. Europe as a whole, regardless of EU membership can start on projects as they have done in the past either together or with other nation’s – jets, tanks, joint space projects etc.

  26. Why is this a bad thing? Europe has been a vassal for the US since WW2.

  27. Make military alliances with Canada, Mexico, and commonwealth countries.

    It will soon be the US + Russia + (any other fascist oligarchy) VS everyone else.

  28. Europe it’s not on its own. It’s the US that on its own. Change the mindset guys, it’s important.

  29. Europe: you have to take care of our problems.

    US: No. We’d like to take care of our problems first. You can man your own armies & fund it yourself. We are not the world police.

    Europe: You are the bad guys!

    Also Europe: Why can’t you be like us?
