The combined revenue of the top four richest countries in Europe is 10x more than Russa’s revenue. Europe’s population is 740 million. Russia’s is 143 million. I think it’s time Europe made it clearer we’re not afraid of Russia. With our combined strength we would decimate Russia and they know it.

  14. National GDP of Finland is 300 billion, 15 % of Russia’s GDP. Finland has 5,5 million people, 4 % of Russia’s population. In addition, wealth distribution in Finland is much more equal than in Russia.

    Differences in living standards are pretty staggering.

    Of course they are dangerous but if we have to, we can cut the head of the snake. Look via a maps app at their infrastructure and ours. They have a few high roads and they all lead to Moscow. We have hundreds of large capitals and bases and if we want we can turn the tables around and take them out within a week. They wouldn’t know where to hit us. Cause we come at them from 100 directions and we know where to hit them specifically.

  21. The EU needs a combined military. That means common training, common parts, common command structure, common military budget, etc. European MIC is shockingly more expensive than the USA. More than double, for less results. Because it is so fractured.

    The EU should also be a member of NATO. Hear me out!! An attack on the EU (an attack on any EU member) would trigger article 5. Which would involve Canada, USA, The UK, etc.

    There are gonna be members who don’t want this. So fully embrace tiered togetherness.

    Those nations who are ready to combine, create The United Federation of Europe. The United Federation of Europe could be a super state within a lesser combined confederation called The Confederation of European States. That would be for EU members who want a closer relationship, but not ready to fully combine. And the Confederation of European States would be a member of the European Union. The EU would be a place for those who are satisfied with the status quo. And the EU in its entirety should become a member of NATO.

    Also NATO representation should not shrink just because they are a member of both. The EU should just have its own representative along with all other current and future members of both the EU and NATO. To be clear, joining the EU would not limit representation in NATO.

    BUT, we have much less weapons and people willing to die fighting.

    Some countries like France were about to completely shift to only few special forces + nuclear weapons, just a few years ago. We don’t even conscript anymore in most countries.

    Just look at the tanks and shells production. We have like 5K tanks today in the whole Europe, down from 15K in the 2000s.

    We need a complete rebuild of our military forces in ground, navy, air and cyber forces, and FAST.

  32. Sadly none of this matters. We have stuff to lose. They don’t. We’re sensitive to an interest hike due to conflict. We have paved roads and indoor plumbing and if any of that is threatened we quickly vote someone in who will make sure the plumbing works even if we must please Putin. We’d never accept large casualties.

    Meanwhile in Russia they have 100M who are basically brainwashed to believe that it’s patriotic to pay 10x as much for butter, and who doesn’t care about minor stuff like whether the plumbing works or whether Ilya comes home again from the war or how many legs he has.

    It’s a scary country to deal with because they have nothing to lose.
