US President Donald Trump has lowered a proposed tariff on oil imports from Canada from 25% to 10% and delayed its implementation to early March. Crude oil has dominated the tariff discussion: Canada is by far the largest crude supplier to the US at some 4 million barrels per day, accounting for all of the midcontinent’s heavy feedstock and roughly one-quarter of nationwide throughputs. But tariffs on Canada would also impact some 625,000 b/d of refined product imports, including almost one-tenth of the US overseas jet fuel supply.
