BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – On Monday, Governor Kelly Armstrong signed an executive order waiving service hour requirements for haulers of propane and other petroleum products for 30 days.
The order is an effort to increase the state’s low supply of propane and petroleum products that have dwindled due to severe weather and increased heating demands.
Justin Kringstad of the North Dakota pipeline authority said even though the state produces plenty of propane and petroleum products, our lack of storage options has led to logistical challenges.
“Some of our neighboring states do have that storage capability Minnesota, Iowa, and farther south. And so, with the seasonal demands, really high demand in the wintertime, trucking that propane from those storage to North Dakota becomes critically important,” said Kringstad.
The executive order should also help decrease delivery delays.
