CHAPIN, S.C. — A large new business development is getting underway in Chapin.
It’s called the Lake Murray Business Park, and when it’s built by Chapin Commericial Construction, it will be a place for retail stores and offices.
Developers say the park will be located on a 8.14-acre tract of land at the intersection of Chapin Road and Primrose Lane.
Chapin Commericial Construction CFO Caroline Lindler says the plan is to house all business types, including professional and medical offices, boutiques and more in one space.
“We have had interest from all sorts of businesses. We’ve heard interest from medical types, physical therapy groups, engineering firms, winery, an art academy,” Lindler said. “We’ve had interest across-the-board, and we are expecting a wide array of businesses to eventually be in our park.”
Local businesses already in the area like Houston House Interior Design say they’re looking forward to the development. Owner Ashley Houston says the development is coming at the perfect time.
“Any growth like this that is well planned out and that is responsible, I think, will make the community a more desirable place to live and bring more people into the area,” Houston said.
For other business owners, this will be a new place they call home, including Arts Smart Academy, which is looking to bring more art back into the community.
“We’ll actually be the first tenants in the business, park so we are very excited,” Arts Smart Academy owner Katherine Fix said. “I want to bring back parties and camps and after-school programs for kids, date nights, opportunities for families and just different types of education and art education for the community.”
Phase I of the development is set to be complete in the second or third quarter of 2025 and will feature four subdividable buildings, ranging from approximately 3,000 to 5,000-square feet.
