France and Estonia will hold an emergency meeting on Monday,
Feb. 24, gathering defense ministers of European countries to discuss their joint
policy on Ukraine, Bloomberg reported on Feb. 21.
The conference will be conducted remotely. Participants will include the UK, Germany, Italy, Poland, as well as representatives from the EU and NATO, according to the report.
European leaders hope to develop new defense plans, considering the possibility that the United States may withdraw support for Ukraine and reduce its military presence in Europe altogether.
Earlier on Feb. 21, it was announced that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will co-chair a joint meeting with the European Commission and the Ukrainian government on Feb. 24 in Kyiv. The visit is meant to coincide with the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The Guardian reported that the EU may announce a new military aid package for Ukraine on the same day.
