DEN HAAG (Netherlands) – Great Britain continue to show their development in the game as they locked up a spot at FIBA EuroBasket 2025 to make it six appearances in the last seven editions.
The Brits had not reached the continental showcase until their first appearance in 2009, but now they have become a mainstay. The country has worked hard to create more talent and those players have proven themselves on the big stage.
Great Britain booked their ticket with a gameday to spare after beating Netherlands in the February 2025 window of the Qualifiers for their third win from five.

Qualifiers heroes
Carl Wheatle has always been there for GB
Great Britain’s depth has been noticeable in the Qualifiers with six players averaging in double figures over multiple games. Amin Adamu, Myles Hesson, Carl Wheatle and Patrick Whelan have all played in the five games for the islanders.
Wheatle and Hesson both averaged in double figures scoring for Coach Marc Steutel while the emerging Quinn Ellis and experienced Gabe Olaseni have starred as well in their appearances in the Qualifiers.
History
Great Britain’s qualification for FIBA EuroBasket 2025 marks their sixth overall appearance in Europe’s flagship event. All of those showings have come within the seven tournaments since 2009 – only missing the 2015 event.
They finished 13th in their first three showings and then slumped to 22nd in 2017 before being 24th of 24 teams in 2022.
