  1. Totally dependent on Russian energy and USA defence money to keep them safe.

  2. Trump’s behaviour is confusing. But on another note Europe didn’t take Russia seriously.

  3. This is an article from 2018.

He was right back then but this was a speech conjured up by some old-guard Republican hawks. They are gone for most.

  4. Europe fed the monster and enabled Russia to rebuild its military might. At the beginning of the war in 2022, Germany refused to provide any meaningful military support to Ukraine. Even to this day, Germany keeps buying Russian gas through LNG imports

  5. Uh yeah and he was right and is still right to this day. Germany is literally still buying oil from the country they are claiming is potentially aiming to invade them in the future.

  6. Europe has been funding Russian war since 2022. They had to audacity to lecture other 3rd world global south countries while giving Russia billions each year.

Not to forget all the Russia oil EU purchases from India. Then after all this they sit on their moral high horse accusing India of helping Russia.

It’s good that Trump is finally showing Europe’s true colours to the whole world.

  7. The reaction was priceless. It’s true, through and through. Germany was completely in the wrong. But because it was, in their eyes, a low IQ moron and a laughing-stock saying it, they just smugly laughed. Europe is far more classist than America is in this standard.

People are angry at Vance, but nobody really mocked him for his Munich speech. He is pretty educated and speaks in a sophisticated manner. Trump on the other hand, “hahahaha, what a joke, let’s go give Russia more money”.

I don’t think Germans really have a leg to stand on this issue. Would really be interested in hearing any sort of defence of the German reps’ behaviour here. What’s funny? What’s amusing? What makes them so confidently laugh it off?

  8. Kind of weird when US has become totally dependent on Russian propaganda under Trump

  9. Full disclosure: I am 100 pro Ukraine and completely against Russia.

Irrespective of any (hopeful) détente, Europe, the US and Germany in particular were completely remiss in becoming dependent on Russian oil. Plenty of Russian sympathisers and paid for politicians in main stream German politics.

They were, indeed, warned. But Merket and Shröder were absolutely complicit in all this.

One of the very few occasions where Trump was correct

  10. Who posts all those articles? Someone must be really mad at Germany making Holocaust denial illegal, finger pointing with 8 year old news

But I get it. It’s not nice being the bad guy on the internet. Let’s find someone else to boo at.

  11. Germany worked into normalizing relationships with Russia and this scared the USA because saw the risk of having an Europe less dependent on the USA’s energy and materials, getting Germany potentially out of their sphere of influence.

The fact that Putin is an autocratic ruler isn’t really a problem for anyone since we deal with autocratic rulers all over the world and some of them were put where they are by the west or USA itself across the years (for instance in South America).

I wouldn’t be surprised if the recent actions of the USA could move Germany closer to China for a commercial and technological partnership.

  12. I think trump has bpd. He changes his statement too much
