Norwegians in English movies usually have a German accent. The best actual Norwegian accent I’ve heard is from a scene in [Dude, where’s my car](https://youtu.be/DXMcp94Y-9U). I’ve also heard that Borat sounds more Polish than Khazakh, and I have a suspicion Nico Bellic sounds more Slavic than Romanian.
This makes me wonder how bad other European accents are represented, and which movies (or other media) do it accurately.

Dutch accents in Hollywood movies are always horrible. At least [that dutch guy in the Austin Power movies](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnzH15hwt48&ab_channel=MOVIESCENECREW) did some research and although he makes quite a caricature out of it, he did notice correctly that we pronounce the ‘s’ as ‘sh’ and make no distinction between voiced and voiceless consonants and he does sound more Dutch than German or even Slavic as most American/Canadian actors trying to portray a Dutchman. I appreciate the effort.
I’m watching Jack Reacher right now, so I’m going with [Werner Herzog](https://youtu.be/C_2u11z1ljU). Obviously older German (speaking) actors in general. Schwarzenegger is probably the most famous example.
Borat uses butchered Polish words for comedy (like his greeting, “jak sie masz?” —> “yakshe mash!”), but sounds nothing like a Pole speaking English.
Poles with thick accents speaking English have very “hard” accents with strongly-pronounced consonants and warm, round vowels.

You may be on to something here.
His backstory is that he was born in Yugoslavia and fought in the wars caused by it’s collapse. Yugoslavia broke up into Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and (not everyone agrees on the details) Kosovo. Why would he have a Romanian accent?
