Smog alert: tomorrow and Saturday there’s a limit of 90km/h on several highways

  1. I don’t know why we don’t permanently reduce the speed instead of this “oh we’ll just let the air quality get bad enough before we do anything” bullshit

  2. HLN comments: people being angry about the speed limit instead of being angry about the air pollution

  3. Quick, build more gas plants /s.

I know we’re talking about the transport sector, but it still shows we really have no room for additional fosil fuel.

  4. Wish they made the public transit free…. always. There are only net positives to such a move, but i’ll probably get shot down *shrug*.

  5. Is there also something going on in germany? Drove to Düsseldorf today, and i have never seen the germans drive so slow. Anyway thanks for the heads up, I will keep this in mind for the drive home tomorrow.

  6. De snelheidsbeperking van 90 kilometer per uur geldt trouwens ook voor elektrische auto’s. “De wegcode is nog niet aangepast aan elektrische voertuigen. Er is dus geen uitzondering”

***puts electric vehicle in the bin***

  7. There were no smog alerts since 2014. Not a single one.

They claim it was because air quality is much better, less polution. So what has suddenly changed?

And we haven’t even closed down the 5 nuclear power plants that had no emissions and replaced them by gas plants that will spread more nitrous oxides and fine dust. Really looking forward to that happening 🤢

  8. If only we had something like, you know, where people who can do their job from home wouldn’t be forced to go to the office.. and we would call it “homeworking” or something.

  9. So today I drove to my work as micro-managers must micro-manage and I only got the feeling I was the only one following the smog-instructions.

I drive the E19/E40 so smog boards everywhere and dynamic boards.

Again, if you implement measures but don’t do the checks, most car drivers will just ignore it completely. Today I can easily say that 99% of the car drivers were in violation of the law on the E40/E19.
