There’s this interesting cage on the roof of a building in the 9th district, Vienna. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

  1. This is the prison cell that the people of Vienna have built for the day when HC Strache gets convicted. As it is prohibited to smoke and piss on yourself indoors in prisons, he gets all of these benefits in what we call a “Freiluft Häfn für grindige Oaschlecha”.

  2. I’ve seen a similar question in r/de recently. I think it is some kind of noise-wall. From a technical perspective it would absorb only a certain wavelength, which is determined by the distance of the gaps.

    Found the thread: r/de/comments/tim9vi/ich_laufe_da_jetzt_schon_seit_monaten_vorbei_und/

Edit: as somone pointed out correctly, it is a different one as there are glass-panes in between the grids. So I don’t know really either, it might still be of use against noise but it might also be sth completely different.

  3. I think it’s the foundation for one of viennas Classic roof-sheds. They are pretty convenient for storing lawnmowers and garden equipment.

  4. Looks to me like a massive construction were advertising poster are mounted… since its on the roofs wind will take them like sails so it had to be massiv! But for real I dont know ;D

  5. Maybe some kind of Faraday cage?
Could be used to temporarily and safely place a telescope for stargazing inside?

The theory on noise reduction may have its merits, but that could be wrong as well.

Given the weight and size of the structure, I somehow doubt that it serves no specific function (= I don’t think it’s an art installation.)

  6. Könnt mir vorstellen, das das mal für zukünftige Begrünung ist und danm fûr Bienen und so shit!
