There’s this water spring called the Minnebron (literally ‘source of love’) in a forest in Belgium, an old legend says if you drink from it you will find your soulmate within the next year. It’s the best water I’ve ever tasted.

  1. People are come here with dozens of jugs to fill and take home, its quite annoying when you just want a quick drink while jogging.

  2. This is the first time I’ve looked at /r/hydrohomies. I expected a bit more informed people when it comes down to water, judging by its name.

  3. I always called it ‘t zoet water bron. So many memories! Haven’t been there since i left Leuven. We used to fill 5L bottles during summer or meet with friends there.

  4. Locals don’t call it the ‘minnebron’ though. It’s more “da bronneke aant zuut water”. When the lockdown started, there were looooong lines, idk why – it’s not as if suddenly the water was going to quit coming out of the ground or something. It doesn’t need extra promo, imho – the cars on the little parking are an annoyance already. But if you’re going on a hike, there’s a big extra parking next to the Roosenberg, do a little tour around the ponds / forest, end with some gelato at N’ice and it’s a great day out. Waffles at the St. Jean are also recommended. Last year, there was this pop-up bar at the playground, great for adults and kids. With the new plan to revamp the site by the local government in the next few years, there’s bound to be a lot more tourists. Pros and cons, I guess.
