Czechia’s Dalibor Svrcina beat Brandon Holt of the USA to win the singles title at the Maha Open 2025 tennis tournament in Pune on Sunday.
Svrcina, unseeded, beat the sixth-seeded Brandon Holt of the USA 7(7)-6(3), 6-1 to emerge as the singles champion, in a match that lasted an hour 29 minutes.
After a neck-and-neck first set, Dalibor grew in confidence and struck winners consistently to wrap up the second set easily.
It has been a solid run for 22-year-old Dalibor Svrcina in the three ATP Challenger events in India. He made the semi-finals in Chennai and the second round in Delhi.
The Maha Open 2025 was an ATP Challenger 100 tennis tournament played on hard courts. By winning the singles event, Svrcina raked in 100 ATP Ranking points while runner-up Brandon Holt earned 60 ranking points.
On Saturday, Dalibor Svrcina made it to his first ATP Challenger final with a win over Khumoyun Sultanov of Uzbekistan with a 6(6)-7(8), 6-0, 3-1(retd) scoreline. The match had to be stopped as Khumoyun retired after complaining of breathlessness and fatigue due to heat.
Brandon Holt got past eighth-seeded Alexis Galarneau of Canada 7-5, 6-4 in his semi-final match.
In the doubles, India’s Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Vijay Sundar Prashanth won the title with a 3-6, 6-3, 10-0 win over second-seeded Australian pair of Blake Bayldon and Matthew Christopher Romios. It was the first title together for the Indian tennis players.
