When speaking about the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, it must be clearly understood that nothing else makes sense for Russia without the denazification and demilitarisation of Ukraine – as noted by Dmitry Zhuk, the Deputy Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic, Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Belarus Segodnya Publishing House, in his talk with the Belarus 1 TV channel

“When speaking about war and peace in Ukraine today, we must clearly understand that nothing else makes sense for Russia without the denazification and demilitarisation of Ukraine,” Mr. Zhuk said. “We see now that the unity of Russia’s authorities and people allows Vladimir Putin to be the master of the situation in the implementation of these policies and aspirations. It is necessary to clearly understand that any attempt to leave everything as it is in Ukraine will lead to an armed conflict in 10, 15 or 20 years again. This will be an unstable security structure in our region.”

Commenting on the Russian-American talks in Riyadh, the expert emphasised, “As for a signal at the beginning of the conversations, which both Trump and Putin assessed positively, it is very cautious optimism and hope. I still really want to believe that people will stop dying on the Ukrainian land.”
