  1. It’s ok because Ireland punished the politicians who put us in this mess in the last election so that politicians know they have to do better or they don’t get power….right??

    Fantastic news for the senate

  3. It’s almost like the people responsible for the housing crisis continuing indefinitely are the ones profiting from it.

  4. FGH have this under control.

They have enacted a new plan to make a plan after the last few plans didn’t plan out.

Don’t worry. It can’t possibly get any worse.

  5. Repeat after me – its not average rent, its average new rent. Theres a very big difference.

  6. And they fudged the numbers to influence the election. Remember that the next time you hear a politician uttering the words “fake news” and “disinformation”.

  7. I had to move back in with my family because the shithole 1 bedroom flat I was renting in the middle of nowhere was 800 fucking euro a month. Two hours outside of dublin but on the main road. Make it make sense

  8. Of course the number of available homes is plummeting, the demand is booming because our population is booming. Obviously.

  9. There are no houses for people to live in. So let’s spend a fortune on the defence forces. You never know the Ruskies might invade and take what little housing stock we have left.

  10. I wonder did anyone on this sub campaign – lobby friends and family on who to vote for. Did any of you actually engage in politics rather than just whinge here

  11. Considering we voted the government that caused this back in, most of us should be delighted at the upward progression of rent

  12. good thing those pesky rent controls are going reference rents are being brought in so the gougers can point to the next guy who’s rent is higher than theirs to raise it even more in an unending cycle

  13. No point in complaining, the country voted for more of the same in the last election, so, here it is, more of the same!

  14. It is amazing news for middle class voters (and representatives and officials of all main parties), both those who are profiting from buy-to-let and those who own houses as valuation goes up with rent.
A large increase in population both prevents inflation of labor costs and boosts ownership incomes, a great win-win! 🙂

  15. I’m so sick of this country and the people that run it. I’m also sick of every Irish citizen who dares complain about absolutely anything and then continues to vote for the same morons that have us in this situation.

  16. Unfortunately filth, FFG voters to be precise, voted for this status quo. So if anyone is to blame, it’s them.

  17. I want a cabin house for 50k that has 2 rooms a kitchen bathroom and living room. From what I understand you can’t do that

  18. We have to sell the father in laws house after he passed to pay a few bills, the sign went up on Friday and nine seperate people have dropped into the neighbors to give numbers and ask about it since then. The markets fucked.

  19. I pay €1200 pm mortgage on a house that would rent for about €3000. The Irish property market is an absolute piss take, and if you continue to vote for the architects of that brutality against our own people then you have forgotten the face of your father.
