The police and residents get together, in the same month, to stop the opening of both a jazz club and a strip club in Soho. And then people wonder why the culture of London is disappearing.
I mean jeez – they moved into an area that used to have (I’ve no idea if it still exists) Raymond’s Review Bar – what did they actually expect? Soho does seem surprisingly tame to what it was though e.g. this was almost 20 years ago as part of a job we were involved with, we got approx. 12 hours of CCTV footage of Soho on a Friday night. Whilst it confirmed what we needed it to for our job – it was surprisingly tame. There was only something like a young gay couple having a very public session at like 3 in the morning. Apart from that it was very tame standard Friday night stuff.
I sort of just assumed there were lots of these places in Soho already? Because it’s Soho…?
It’s absolutely outrageous that Soho doesn’t already have one.
One of the UK’s biggest economic success stories, right now, is OnlyFans. It’s a matter of national economic strategy that Soho can be a good shop front for the UK’s sex work industries. That means we need legal, safe, and abundant sex work venues in Soho, and it should be a legitimate matter for national government to intervene if Westminster won’t provide it.

I used to be a bartender in the West End during the late 90s and that area was full of life and colour. It’s basically been gentrified with the good exotica like Madame Jojo’s. All that’s left are the few really seedy walk up joints.

This just in, residents of Las Vegas shocked to find city rife with gambling.
I’m 100% in favour of Soho revisiting its more sex positive, vibrant leanings of yester-years, but that not withstanding – Walkers Court is slap bang in the middle of the teenie tiny section of Soho that is still loud and proud about sex stuff, the most obvious sex shop in the city is still there – complete with sparkly tassel curtains into a basement porno cinema, so not really somewhere you’ll be hanging about with your kids anyway if you’re that much of a prude.
Why move to Soho and then complain? Soho has been known for this sort of stuff for centuries. This reminds me of those people that move to countryside then complain they can smell cow shit all day.
