Claiming he “doesn’t use those words lightly” for Putin, a man notorious for suppressing dissent and annexing territories, Trump instead targets Zelensky, who is leading Ukraine against an invasion and abiding by constitutional martial law. It’s as if Trump is auditioning to be Putin’s PR manager while ignoring basic facts about democracy and authoritarianism.His claim that Ukraine “started the war” echoes Kremlin propaganda so closely that Putin might as well put him on the payroll.
