(MENAFN) On Monday, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has stated that his nation will not carry out the EU’s plan to collect billions of euros to provide weapons to Ukraine.

“We will not agree to the payment of tens of billions of euros for arms supplies,” Szijjarto posted on facebook after an EU foreign ministers official gathering in Brussels.

EU nations are preparing a military assistance package of no less than EURO 6 billion for Ukraine in order to bolster Kyiv’s strategic stance in front of US- Russia talks.

“For three years we have been resisting pressure, for three years we have refused to be pushed into their war policy, now we will endure it!” Szijjarto mentioned.

He disapproved the efforts by “pro-war European liberals” to stop US-Russia peace talks as well, which he mentioned as crucial to stopping the conflict.

“It is in our fundamental interest that these negotiations should succeed. That is why we will do everything we can to ensure that Brussels and the pro-war Europeans cannot block a peace agreement between the US and Russia,” he added.
