For the sake of everyone on earth and all of our future generations, I really, *really* hope that this situation serves to galvanise the European Union and bring more nations into the fold.
The countries that once shared a “special relationship” are not what they once were; my hope is that within my lifetime, Britain will be allowed to rejoin the European Union, and that together, Europe will be a bastion of democracy and human rights.
It would also be amazing to see the Pacific and South Pacific nations come together, too, acting as a sibling to the EU, but in the Southern Hemisphere.
I am painfully aware of how utopian / naive this may sound, but these are unprecedented times, in my lifetime at least.
Canada will always be family.

One problem though, for the EU to be effective it requires all of its 27 leaders to be unanimous, and considering Hungary voted at the UN not to condone Russian aggression, you my friends , have an enemy in your EU camp.

Not sure if you’re Canadian but if not, thank you for pointing out Canada’s presence here. We are playing a very full role in working with Europe, and this will be Canada’s future. We have no partner to our immediate south anymore. We embrace Europe.
