When it comes to the lives of people from British Royal family, it piques our interests collectively. There are many royal affairs and romances with sad ending that shocked the world when they first got out. To find out how many of them you know about, read on.

Prince Andrew And Koo Stark

Prince Andrew was dating an American actress named Koo Stark in the 80s and his relationship was heavily scrutinised and criticised. Why, you ask? Well, it is so because the royal family didn’t deem it befitting enough for an actress to walk down the aisle with a prince. The notion was that a prince could have an actress as mistress, but not as a wife. What further made it impossible was Koo being a part of many risqué movies. The duo’s relationship lasted for a good 18 months, but eventually they couldn’t carry on due to media pressure.

While Prince Charles’ instances of infidelity with his now wife Camilla Parker-Bowles did have a bearing on his marriage with Princess Diana, as per many reports and rumours, the latter too had a secret lover James Gilbey. In fact there were several phone calls between them in which the latter could be heard saying “I love you” affectionately to Diana. He also referred to Diana as “Squidgy”.

Sarah Ferguson and John Bryan

Did you know there was a scandal that involved American businessman John Bryan and Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson? Well, yes! There were snaps of Bryan sucking on toes of Sarah while the latter sunbathed topless that were released in the press. All this happened when Sarah had just separated from Charles’ brother Prince Andrew. It goes without saying that Sarah faced a lot of brickbats from the royal family.

Princess Diana and James Hewitt

Princess Diana had once mentioned in an interview to a BBC reporter that she had a love affair with British army officer James Hewitt. Diana had admitted that their relationship had gone beyond a close friendship. However, in a book titled ‘Princess in Love’, Hewitt was quoted heavily, as he mentioned some details about his affair with Diana. He had shared that their romance had begun around 1986, at a time when Diana was estranged from her husband. He also went on to add that their relationship had started to fade when he was dispatched for duty to Germany in 1989. In fact, given Diana’s son Harry has red hair, a lot of people speculated that Hewitt was the father of the child but the latter refuted such claims.

Princess Margaret and Peter Townsend

When Queen Elizabeth II’s younger sister Princess Margaret sought permission from the queen to marry Peter Townsend, a royal equerry, she was met with disapproval. It so happened because Peter had been divorced before. Also, there was a threat to the title and income of Margaret. This explains why Princess Margaret let of of her love life with Peter.
