They’re not hated. They’ve just become increasingly irrelevant.
The masterstroke of moving away from the working class as the party of labour will be remembered as a political move beyond any and all comprehension for decades to come.
They went from being a party of the working class for the working class to being a party of privileged champagne socialists larping as politicians. I mean Alan Kelly was the most corporate whore politician in the entire country and they made him leader. They’re beyond parody and utterly irrelevant.
They lost an entire generation of young voters when they went against their promise of not raising college fees. I don’t know a single person in the 20-35 bracket who votes labour
Brendan Howlin always did remind me of a filthy little hobbitses
They threw their lot in with FFFG years ago to try and stop the rise of Sinn Fein. That has turned out to be a flawed policy.
Nordie here. I remember in school we had a member of each political party here visit our A Level politics class. Dolores Kelly of the SDLP was there one day and someone in the class asked her why the SDLP didn’t exist in the south. She gave some half hearted answer to that but someone else followed up with asking why they didn’t just affiliate to the southern Labour party as they are basically the same ideologically. Dolores then went on a mini rant about how the Irish Labour party were taken over by former Workers Party communists and she wouldn’t want to be affiliated to a communist party. Said with a straight face and all. Any Nordies who still think the stoops are in anyway progressive after jumping into bed with FF and thinking the Labour party are too radical need a word with themselves.
Interested to see what they can do now that Kelly is gone.
Ivana Bacik looks ok but I’m not sold on her yet. It would be nice to have a decent labour party in this country
If anyone gives a shit about the labour force they wouldn’t even entertain the idea of voting for the Labour fucking party.

They became too irrelevant, theyre just the social democrats for old union stalworts
They should have become like ‘blairs new labour’ but they just stayed the voice of siptu, they deserve their irrelevance.
Remember Joan Burton falling out of a boat at the height of the Irish Water thing?
Stop horranging Joe!
I say same about all parties.
Back to back Champs at picking the worse leaders for their party. They only have themselves to blame.
I don’t understand how it was an uncontested leadership race. Not a single other politician wanted the leader role. TDs really are just in it for the paycheck.
They have proven again today that they like the misery and have doubled down by electing someone even more unlikable than Alan Kelly (feat in itself).
Never forget Councillor “I stand by my record on housing but don’t you dare put 12 stories of flats on a prime site 1km from my house” Dermot “I’m not trying to delay metro link I’m just making sure that already answered questions prompted by blatantly false claims” Lacey is Labour as well
I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. I hope this new leader can get present a new front. Freshen up the party and give it back it’s left of centre credentials. I don’t doubt how difficult it will be for the Labour Party to regain the trust of voters but I reckon there must be an opportunity in Ireland for a proper centre left party.
Theyre basically a political party for the civil service and that’s it. They’re also, by and large, filled with people who hate the rich but don’t love the poor.
I was a working class guy and my very middle class manager who door to door campaigned for Labour on the South side of Dublin handed in his notice and left the company leaving me out of pocket by about €4k in overtime he ‘forgot’ to pay.
Sums Labour up for me perfectly.
We’re running out of small parties that won’t bend to the big boys. First the PD’s (lol) , then labour now greens.
The future of the greens tbh.
They’re just a party for posh old smug Dublin liberals. It’s not that people don’t like them, they’re just irrelevant.
I did hear one good thing about Ivanna Bacilk from Garda that I know. She is a public defender, and he says that she stands out by doing 200% for her clients, really really pushing hard on their behalf. That’s the kind of thing that really impresses me about a public servant-
That’s me when I hear about Sinn Fein. Mary Lou’s voice makes my junk countersunk.
They still exist?
I thought they went the way of the Progressive Democrats 😀
Pack of rats
Ivana will finally kill the party off in the next election
Voting for any party in Ireland is like voting for which gimp gets to lube up the dildo
I honestly don’t even know enough about them to have any strong dislike of them though I do recall one of my SPHE teachers in secondary voted for them a few times and he seemed to be pretty unhappy whenever they were brought up.
“Can I just say, can I just, CAN I JUST SAY…at grassroots on the ground, at grassroots level… Excuse me, can I just say…”
Fuck Labour.
They should just dissolve the party and rebrand,
Burton and co should never be forgotten how they went against their mandate, completely turned against the electorate to line there own pockets for a governmental pension.
Utter scum.
Just like Mary Harney and the progressive democrats
Just amalgamate into the blueshirts already.
Joan Burton the tramp turned me off Labour for life,
