  1. As long as they all go on the same detour it’s still a race, right? 2.5km isn’t that much further. Just seems a bit of a silly prank to me.

  2. Not great but why are they so fatalistic? If I go out for a run later today I’ll be guaranteed to be more than 2.5km away from medical support and maybe on a path that isn’t commonly walked on in the week

  3. What’s to complain about – they’re all getting 12.5km race PBs.

  4. This is very funny, I did a trail marathon once and the local Travellers turned the signs round so a large group of us ended up running an extra mile in the wrong direction before twigging we were going the wrong way. You have to laugh about these things.

  5. It’s pretty funny to be honest.

When will people learn that these way over the top responses just aren’t credible or helpful. No one is reading and this and thinking “yeh what if they needed first aid”, we all just think bore off. They’d have garnered more sympathy I think if they’d said that some compete (even if it’s against their own past performances) and this would have ruined it for them.

    Edit:
And why the over emphasis on them being a woman?

  6. Not a fan of people screwing with large groups of other people for a laugh tbh

  7. All competitors affected should be putting together a legal claim against her for their race fees, travel and any other wasted costs.

That’ll put a stop to her shit quick enough.

  8. And the organizers are pissing their pants about theoretical horror scenarios…meh, still pretty funny.

  9. “Pranksters” – why don’t we call them what they are “Vandals”

  10. As a couch potato this is slightly hilarious 😆

  11. >Organisers Alex Osborne and Michelle Sinsheimer told Sky News it is “hard to laugh off the incident” as the prank led the runners away from medical help had it been needed.

Fair comment tbh, it would’ve delayed the medical response.

But no one died so guess we can laugh about it.

  12. When they pulled his prosthetic face off did he grumble “I would have gotten away with it if weren’t for those darn kids”

  13. Life disruptors is better than prankster to define these cretins.

  14. People saying this is very funny. Is it? Why not leave people to get on with things, rather than mess up their run.

  15. > Female

Thanks for this highly irrelevant information

  16. This is bloody appalling. They should have done it to cyclists.

  17. The irony is nearly all of them drive to these events.
If you love running so much run there aswell.

  18. Reading this thread, no wonder the country is going downhill. Most people seem incapable of empathising with people who trained hard for a 10 km race and had their money and effort wasted by some dickhead. It’s all ok until it affects you people.

  19. Pranks and practical jokes that harm nobody should be encouraged.

  20. This is a level of shithousery that should receive a medal
