WASHINGTON (TNND) — A bruise seen on the back of one of President Donald Trump‘s hands prompted rumors earlier this week, but the White House offered an explanation for the apparent black-and-blue mark.
“President Trump is a man of the people and he meets more Americans and shakes their hands on a daily basis than any other President in history,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement to FOX News.”His commitment is unwavering and he proves that every single day,” she added.
The bruise was spotted in an image taken Monday during Trump’s meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the White House. It appeared that makeup was used to cover up the blemish on Trump’s hand.
Rumors swirled soon after, with Trump’s critics speculating he was hurt or previously received some sort of medical care. Leavitt quickly shut down the claims.
The 78-year-old president, meanwhile, has endured a busy first month back in office.
National Journal White House correspondent George E. Condon Jr. said the news outlet tracked at least 1,000 questions Trump answered since Inauguration Day.
Condon noted the questions started less than an hour after he was sworn in on Jan. 20 through Wednesday night.
“It took Trump only three days to eclipse the 141 questions former President Biden took in his first month; Trump took 164 questions by the end of his third day. That day, he also went past the known count of 161 questions in former President Obama’s first month in 2009, though that carries an asterisk because transcripts don’t exist for most of the interviews he granted,” Condon wrote.”It took Trump only one more day to blow past the questions he took in his first month in 2017—200 questions by the end of his fourth day compared to 199 for his first term’s entire first month,” Condon added.
