Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel didn’t hold back as he took aim at US President Donald Trump’s Cabinet, mocking officials for their over-the-top applause for Elon Musk despite their reported private frustrations with the billionaire.
During his Wednesday monologue, Kimmel highlighted a moment from a recent Trump Cabinet meeting where officials were asked about Musk’s involvement in the administration. Instead of addressing concerns, they responded with enthusiastic applause.
“There are Trump Cabinet officials who’ve privately, very privately, been expressing frustration with Elon Musk,” Kimmel noted. “But when they were all together in a room and a reporter asked them about that, no one had a thing to say.”
Kimmel played a clip of the moment before delivering a scathing punchline: “What an adorable group of eunuchs.” He then singled out Senator Marco Rubio’s hesitant reaction, joking, “Marco Rubio might be the only semi-normal person who’s like, ‘Ah, one clap.’ Marco my words: He will be the first one out.”
The comedian also turned his attention to Musk’s handling of a DOGE-related controversy. Musk had recently admitted that DOGE briefly halted funding for Ebola prevention before reversing the decision.
“I think we all want Ebola prevention, so we restored the Ebola prevention immediately,” Musk explained.
Kimmel was unimpressed. “Oh, well, that’s fine then. He only canceled our Ebola prevention for a couple of days. Calm down, everybody!” he quipped, before delivering a brutal analogy: “That’s not an excuse! Ask the doctor. ‘As soon as I realized I unplugged my mother’s life support to charge my iPhone, I immediately plugged it back in.’”
Adding to the absurdity, Kimmel mocked Trump over a mass DOGE email sent to federal employees, which reportedly threatened termination for those who failed to respond in time. Trump later defended the email, claiming it was intended to identify “people that don’t exist.”
“He’s searching for people who don’t exist, as if email will do that,” Kimmel remarked. “Listen, if you can’t find Melania, it doesn’t mean she doesn’t exist.”
Jimmy then took shots at Trump’s latest immigration proposal—a ‘gold card’ that would offer US citizenship for a $5 million price tag. “What a good idea,” Kimmel said mockingly. “I’ve always said our immigration system should run more like a customer rewards program at a casino in Atlantic City.” He likened the proposal to Trump selling Mar-a-Lago memberships, except this time, it’s a ticket to the entire country.
Kimmel also skewered a bizarre Trump campaign video titled Gaza Lago, which presents a glitzy, hotel-themed vision for Gaza’s future under Trump. Playing a clip of the video, Kimmel compared its surreal imagery to a “cruise ship crashing into Saddam Hussein’s house.”
From Musk’s Cabinet meeting spectacle to Trump’s questionable policy ideas, Kimmel didn’t hold back, delivering a sharp takedown of the absurdity surrounding the president’s latest moves.
