If counties that initially were more or less neutral are thinking about joining NATO, if even Germany are thinking about something like Iron Dome, doesn’t it mean that things are becoming worse? Isn’t it better to help Ukraine now to avoid broader war in Europe in the near future? It is already clear that if Ukraine loses, Russia will go further…
All of my friends been saying how our neutrality means nothing in a world where likes of Putin don’t give a damn about rules and convention
Imho if there is a ww3 the neutrons, radiation, refugees and nuclear winter won’t care about the colour of one’s passport when Belfast, Liverpool, Cardiff and London are hit, hell likes of putin has enough to lob in in our direction too out of spite.
Were they asked about having to increase tax to fund military spending? Because I suspect that would slow the momentum a touch.
But there is definitely a much greater apatite for nato membership than ever before. No doubt. Personally would prefer a EU based solution over nato.
I’d consider myself in this category; opposed to it until this year.
I’m not sure NATO would want us though as we can’t contribute much. The Navy and Air Corps have less than 15 assets between them.
Maybe our ports and runways would be more useful?
