Punishment on conviction should include loss of the phone number. That would be even more of a deterrent than a fine.
Well overdue.
The number of drivers I cycle past who are taking photos of landmarks or filming protests is ridiculous.
Must admit I haven’t seen anyone playing games while driving but I’m sure it happens.
Also crucially the evidence is much lighter now. Previously if you submitted dashcam footage of someone using a phone while driving the police had quite strict requirements, that it needed to clearly show a phone/messaging app, and clearly show the driver interacting with it. Now it sounds like may basically just need to show the driver doing something with the phone.
Thankfully they have also made is legal to make contactless payments from a stationary vehicle. I was getting bored of seeing these ridiculous local news articles about paying by phone at drive-thru being illegal.
Who the hell plays mobile phone games while diving?
I also saw cyclists ussing and thumbing phones while on the orad so the law should apply equally to all
One thing I don’t get with this is the music control one, how is it different from using the radio/touchscreens in more modern cars?
The minute we hire 10mil police officers to enforce this it will make a difference. Until then…
I suppose using a camera to photograph an accident would be OK, but not a phone?
