  1. Top Tip: don’t give asylum to people if you can’t house them. This isn’t much better than being back in Gaza,

  2. With how vocal the pro palestine folks are in ireland this is a bit unexpected

  3. There’s a lot of people who are also in need of accommodation and unfortunately there’s not enough to go around. That won’t get better anytime soon

  4. >The family initially hoped to stay in the room that Hazem was renting privately and living in in the South Dublin County Council area. This was after Hazem was told by the authorities that he could not apply for housing for his family until after they had arrived here.

    >**However the landlord evicted the family, citing concerns about overcrowding.**

    >Hazem has attempted to apply for emergency homeless accommodation from three county councils, but all have told him he must apply to a different one.

So clearly landlords and private industry as usual are failing to react in any compassionate or understanding way. Surely it’s up to the government now to take proactive measures to help them. Two young children there for fucks sake.

  5. Jeez it looks like a bloody nice car too, flashy coupe of some sort, maybe try selling that for a start!

  6. Choosing the country you intend to applying for asylum, supports are an important factor to consider.

  7. Was accommodation not offered? Or am I misreading?

In a letter seen by RTÉ News, Dún Laoghaire- Rathdown County Council says it did initially offer to provide accommodation for Haneen and the children together “for a period of time” and for Hazem separately, but Hazem says he absolutely cannot leave his wife alone with the children.

  8. There’s a huge gap between the political reception that Irish people have given Ukrainian (white) refugees and Palestinian (not white) refugees.

The Irish government spent €239 million on accommodation recognition payments for Ukrainian refugees per year. Ukrainians are also entitled to work while in Ireland, and access education. Palestinians can MAYBE get access to direct provision. If that. If not they live on their cars.

We’ve done what we *should* have done for all refugees with Ukraine, but with Palestinians- people who are *also* being driven out of their homes by an invading power – we are falling short. We are showing our arses with this double standard.

  9. Where are all those who marched and protested for Free Palestine?

Surely they’re compassionate enough to take this family into their homes?

This family has come from a horrific environment and deserve assistance, but there are Irish families who are also homeless and living out of cars,

Charity starts at home, help your own people first and then when your people’s needs are met you can turn your gaze towards helping others from around the world….

Our crowd didn’t get that memo and instead, put everyone else ahead of Irish citizens.

I’d rather this than face homelessness for my family.

  11. That’s Ireland though, it’s horrible but that’s the reality of coming here.

  12. This guy has clearly had a bad hair transplant. IYYK. Not unpopular with barbers. What’s the story with SA knife allegations?

  13. The lad lived a pretty decent life in South Africa judging by his own social media able to afford a nice BMW and had a job as a barber I wonder why he came here definitely nothing to do with him allegedly stabbing someone over there.

  14. This lad stabbed a professional footballer in South Africa for giving him a “funny look”

  15. This seems off, family unification requires a salary to support families who come to join those granted citizenship here, did he have that? Quick Google search of the dad seems like he has been living a reasonably lavish life for several years elsewhere…. this all seems bizarre

  16. The situation in this country is deplorable.

I often wonder if people are aware that they’ll likely be homeless when they get here. Or if the word hasn’t spread yet about how truly terrible it is.

Imagine your home, your whole life, being blown to smithereens and then arriving somewhere and being handed a tent at best.

I don’t even know the solution. It just makes me so sad.

  17. The father was living and working in south africa up till recently enough?

  18. He can get the boat. Chap has a better jacket than me for fuck sake

  19. He has more kids in South Africa, I think 4? will they be allowed to come too?
