LaIPA has awarded Tautumeitas 5,000 Euros to promote their participation in the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland.
For a third year in a row, the Latvian Association of Performers and Producers has awarded 5,000 Euros to the Latvian representative in the Eurovision Song Contest. The funding is intended to promote the development of the Latvian music industry and support Tautumeitas in gaining recognition internationally ahead of the Eurovision Song Contest.
LaIPA Executive Director Liena Edvards explained the reason it provides support for Latvia’s Eurovision entry:
“Knowing the imbalance of financial opportunities of the so-called smaller countries with the wealthier Eurovision countries, when preparing their Eurovision performances, this initiative creates greater opportunities for artists to reach a wider audience abroad and introduce their songs to foreign listeners even before the final of the competition. I am convinced that “Tautumeitas” with its unique Latvian sound and strong stage energy will be able to not only attract attention, but also touch and inspire Eurovision viewers across Europe.”
Tautumeitas is a all female group consisting of five vocalists and instrumentalists. Their song “Bur man laimi” is entirely in Latvian. They will perform in the first half of Semi-Final Two of Eurovision 2025 on May 15.

Latvia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000, being the last of the Baltic nations to join the contest. On their debut, Brainstorm finished in 3rd place with the song “My Star”. Latvia won the contest for the first time in 2002, with Marie N’s “I Wanna”. Latvia only participated in 2002 thanks to the withdrawal of Portugal from the contest, as Latvia’s poor result in 2001 had relegated them from the 2002 contest. Latvia struggled in the contest after 2002, failing to qualify for the final for six years in a row between 2009 and 2014. After a non-qualification streak that lasted 7 years, Latvia eventually qualified in 2024 with Dons and “Hollow”.
