They’re not laying down the keel for another 3 years.
How about we buy some of the older stuff you can’t staff, while you build us the 6-7 new ones we need?
We can pay with missiles.
Why arent we producing any ships in norway? Is it purely labor costs, or something else?
The US is clearly no longer an ally we can trust. So that narrows it down a bit.
I don’t fucking know
Needless to say the American Constellation-class should be out of the question by now.
Yes
Yes it’s a pretty decent and fair option for the navy, especially if you also bring in the deal with the naval AW101 as a package which they’re offering. But the French and German ships are also good candidates, however the USA one needs to be left out as it’s such a terrible choice it’s not even funny.
The UK has historically been a good and reliable partner in these matters. But frigates in general seem more a “show of force” thing to me than actually force. And a lot of resources bound up in each single hull. I would have funneled resources into subs, high-precision artillery, drones, and missiles. We are not a nation that can display overwhelming force, we need to go for force-multipliers.
There was a design based on repurposing supply vessels by putting on some modular military equipment like vls, radar and command and control. Not ideal, not stealthy, but could provide a lot of bang for the bucks..
