I can’t fathom making those charts in that time period. Were others doing this type of work? They look so modern to me….the relative sizes of the US maps is so cool and looks straight out of a ny times infographic. Very cool.

There’s an annual challenge where data vis practitioners try their hand at recreating his visualizations using modern tools, one per week for 10 weeks – the one for 2025 is happening now, so it’s not too late to join in 😉
