This morning, Croatia’s Eurovision broadcaster Hrvatska radiotelevizija (HRT) held semi-final 1 of their national final Dora 2025. The eight acts advancing to the Final are:
Matt Shaft – Welcome to the Circus
Lelek – The Soul of my Soul
Marko Tolja – Through the dark
Natalli – Dom si srcu mom
The four acts that were eliminated were:
Martha May – Running to the Light
The successful acts will join the eight entries chosen from semi-final 2 which will be determined on Saturday 01 March (Australian time). The 16 acts will then contest the final on Monday 03 March (Australian time).
Both semi-finals will use a 100% public voting system, however, the final will be determined by 50% public voting, 25% national jury and 25% international jury. This is the second time Croatia is using a two semi-final competition since Dora was reintroduced in 2019.
Croatia has not yet won the Eurovision Song Contest, however, 1989 Yugoslavian winners Riva hailed from the Balkan nation.
Croatia made their debut as an independent nation in 1993 and have competed 29 times. Last year the nation received their best ever result with Baby Lasagna and his song Rim Tim Tagi Dim which finished in second place.
