  1. What a long, weird path we’ve come.

    The environment was once a non-partisan issue. It was created by Nixon, a Republican!

    And here we are now, somehow in a world where where actively destroying the environment is considered a virtue by our leaders and many of our people.

    I wonder how much has to do with it being less visible? Obviously it’s VERY visible with massive storms, heat, drought, fires, flooding, etc, But those aren’t *obvious* to just look at and say “let’s fix that!” You can look at a polluted river and it’s pretty clear what’s going on when you see chemicals flowing through and the garbage in the river catching fire. Or when you can’t even see the building 100 feet away from you due to smog.

    We fixed a lot of those “so obvious even an idiot sees it’s a problem” issues, and people are now back to being complacent idiots.
