Between them, Raúl Castillo and Melonie Diaz have racked up some brilliant credits. From Diaz’s appearances in The Belko Experiment, Lords of Dogtown, and The First Purge, and Castillo’s work in Unsane, Cassandro, and most recently, Smile 2, the pair have a good eye for a great project. This proves true once more as their latest film, Cold Wallet, is a hugely entertaining home invasion story with a cryptocurrency twist.

Set in the run-up to Christmas,Cold Wallet follows Billy (Raúl Castillo), a desperate single father struggling to make ends meet. Unable to earn significant cash in the real world, Billy, like many others, has been seduced by the world of cryptocurrency. His instincts initially prove fruitful, but then everything changes. After losing everything in a cryptocurrency scam, Billy, along with a ragtag team of vigilante Redditors, including Eva (Melonie Diaz), attempt to kidnap the kingpin who screwed them over. But when the home invasion takes a turn for the worse, they become victims in a sadistic game.

Directed by Cutter Hodierne, Cold Wallet casts cryptocurrency into the spotlight in this riveting home invasion thriller that constantly ups the stakes. At the heart of the story are Billy and Eva. Although initially aligned, as their night progresses, the pair begin to fracture. Watching the duo circle one another whilst trying to keep their hostage in check, has the viewer glued to their seat.
