  1. >“I see a turn away from everything decent,” Cameron said. “America doesn’t stand for anything if it doesn’t stand for what it has historically stood for. It becomes a hollow idea, and I think they’re hollowing it out as fast as they can for their own benefit.”

    >While Cameron visits the U.S. frequently, he spends the majority of his time in New Zealand. It’s there where Cameron has been filming and working on the “Avatar” franchise for more than a decade and counting. Given that “we are all in this together globally,” Cameron said he’s unsure “if I feel any safer here.”

    >“But I certainly feel like I don’t have to read about it on the front page every single day. And it’s just sickening,” Cameron added. “There’s something nice about the New Zealand outlets — at least they’ll put it on page three. I just don’t want to see that guy’s face any more on the front page of the paper. It’s inescapable there, it’s like watching a car crash over and over and over.”

    >As for his impending New Zealand citizenship, Cameron said it “means a lot” and “it’s something I’ve worked toward, something I’ve had to sacrifice for.”

    >“If you’re going to uproot your family and move somewhere, you have to invest, you have to be part of it, you have to earn standing,” the director said. “I just think you’ve got to earn your right to be in a place… There’s an innate respect and a demand for respect [here]. Everybody has this kind of equal status in terms of person-hood. And I love that – that’s what I wanted my kids to experience.”

  2. He’s always been an uptight obnoxious asshole. Like we get it, you can buy your citizenship on your high horse

  3. We need to admit the statistically prevalent voter segment in US is made up of intellectually challenged voters.

  4. How fortunate that he’s in a position where I’m sure the process will have been expedited for him.

  5. Great idea, James. But the rest of us can’t “earn” it like you can, so there’s that.

  6. Pretty sure James Cameron never got American citizenship. Last I heard he removed his application when Bush was elected.

Obviously he can probably use his name and money to help get citizenship to New Zealand, but I wonder if being Canadian also helps.

  7. TIL that James Cameron is actually Canadian. And here I thought he was American this whole time.

  8. It’s disturbing to see the level of gaslighting going on by this administration. Not to say they all don’t do it. But I’m talking about them claiming to release the eptstein filles that were all redacted when we already had the unredacted list from gawker 5 years ago.

  9. Lol trump’s wanting to implement gold card visas for millionaires. In reality anyone with money is trying to GTFO of The US.

  10. I must live in a bubble because I still can’t see how half the country that voted voted for him. Like I know they believe lies but come on..

  11. Just what we need. More people with money that can cause real influence running away to their rich backhills estates while the rest of us suffer.

  12. Nice that he can just afford to choose to live wherever he wants to.

  13. I thought we stopping using “Slams” in headlines in like 2013

  14. Yeah, the rich get to escape and leave the rest of us scrambling.
