Igor Girkin, a former Russian FSB colonel, confirmed before his arrest that the core of the so-called separatists in eastern Ukraine in 2014 were Russian special forces.

  1. Like Girkin himself, at the top, happened to be a Russian operative.

And they were easily defeated by Ukraine and had to run.

  2. In case anyone was wondering why he got arrested, it was not because of the illegal coup nor the kidnapping and torturing of Crimean Tartars, nor was it because people under his command shot down a commercial airliner with hundreds of victims…noooooooo.

Way worse: he admitted publicly that the pro russian seperatist movement was completely fabricated and instigated by him and russia.

And that’s why he is being slowly tortured to death in russian prison. So at least he got what he deserved, albeit it for the wrong reasons.

  3. And all the far right idiots will be like: fake news, you brainwashed and so on

  4. Yep, but even this was not enough. Even with GRU and FSB spec ops, plus some VDV units, Russian forces were cut out and doomed to destruction if not for the direct intervention of the Russian army, which bombarded with artillery across the Russian-Ukrainian border Ukrainian forces that encircled GRU and FSB units. Ukrainian leaders those days didn’t have guts to dare and attack Russian artillery across the border. Thus pinned down Ukrainian forces in the infamous “Sector D” had two options – surrender or break through. One batallion decided to surrender – they crossed border and surrendered to Russians. Another batallion decided to break through. And they sucesfully did it with only one soldier being KIA. The batallion which broke trough was under the command of then young major Mykhailo Drapatyi, also known for “[flying BMP](https://youtu.be/0obc0EyWtw8)” incident. Now Major General Drapatyi is Commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.

  5. Every scream this trash yells out while being tortured will help but all these truths about russias criminal activities doesn’t really seem to get the Ukrainians what they really need to win this war. putin is treated with light reactions.

  6. As if we would need confirmation to something we already knew:

Russia says we didnt – so they fucking did.

  7. „Missing the core“

A clearer way to put it would be „There wasn’t any basis in society for an uprising“

  8. If you listen to the Eastern Border podcast you know this man very well. You also know that he somehow has two brain cells compared to the majority of the Russian State which barely has one.

God Id love to see this asshole in the hands of the Dutch.
