An artist in Denmark is seeking to raise awareness of the suffering caused by modern pig production with an art installation that includes three piglets starving to death. Chilean-born Marco Evaristti’s exhibition is called “And Now You Care.” It opened in Copenhagen on Friday. It includes a makeshift cage created with shopping carts containing three piglets. They will not be given food and drink, and can be expected to die of hunger within a few days. Denmark’s largest and oldest animal welfare organization, Animal Protection Denmark, says it is grateful for Evaristti’s interest in the problem, but doesn’t like the way he wants to convey it.
