  1. Life is kinda shitty. Like at the end of the day there’s really no justice or fairness for anything. For instance head trauma as a child is known to correlate with pedophilia (so is sexual trauma). Imagine your a kid destined for great things and then one day you get in an accident and now your brain is messed up and you’re destined to become the most hated possible thing in society completely out of your control.

  2. Gotta wonder what constitutes TBI. Is simply being struck in the head enough, or does it need to be concussion level (ie getting knocked unconscious) before you can legitimately claim a TBI?

    And that leads to the question of causality vs correlation. Are guys suffering TBI more likely to commit crimes? Or does bad behavior lead to situations where TBI is more likely?

    How about including the TBI rates of non-incarcerated males?

    We may find the methodology doesn’t show a difference between incarcerated and non-incarcerated populations.

    Edit: also “A self-report survey of adult, male offenders within a prison. Of 453 offenders, 196 (43%) responded.” Note that this is NOT that they DO in fact have TBI,…just that they self reported

    I conjecture that those who think they have TBI are more likely to respond…..even if they truly do or don’t have TBI

  6. They need to define “TBI” a bit better, as I believe the “T” stands for “Traumatic”, correct? Traumatic has a pretty heavy meaning, right? The study says 48% had “Mild TBI”. I wonder if they “Military Intelligence” much 🙂
    “Reports consistent with TBI of various severities were given by 65%. Of the overall sample, 16% had experienced moderate-to-severe TBI and 48% mild TBI. Adults with TBI were younger at entry into custodial systems and reported higher rates of repeat offending. They also reported greater time, in the past 5 years, spent in prison.”
