Luxembourg notary Karine Reuter intends to appeal against two convictions for failing to comply with money laundering obligations, her lawyer has said.
Reuter, the president of the Luxembourg football league, was fined a total of €120,000 in two separate cases earlier this month by the Luxembourg District Court.
The first conviction on 6 February, which led to a fine of €20,000, was in connection with a property sale in which the owner was allegedly taken advantage of. The second case, a week later, concerned real estate transactions with dubious investors from Azerbaijan.

Reuter’s lawyer, Lydie Lorang, told Virgule on Thursday that her client “certainly intends to appeal against these two verdicts.”
Lorang declined to answer further questions about whether Reuter planned to step back from her duties while the appeal is ongoing, or whether she felt her client’s reputation had been tarnished by the cases.
The Chamber of Notaries told the Luxemburger Wort that the “necessary measures will be taken” against Reuter, but chamber president Edouard Delosch added: “I would like to emphasise that the judgments pronounced by the judicial courts are subject to appeal.”
