  1. >Alexandra Daddario was recently asked by Elle magazine to name the “most outrageous rumor” about herself “that won’t go away.” She didn’t hesitate to give an answer: “That I’m a bad actress.”

    >“I’m not a bad actress,” Daddario said. “I’ve just done some projects that don’t showcase me in the way that I should be showcased. Okay? Directing and the writing is everything. Sometime’s I’m lit poorly, but I’m not a bad actress. I got an Emmy nomination. How do you think I did that?”

  2. Maybe it’s the bad direction, or maybe other factors – but I’ve never been impressed with her.

  3. Her crowing achievement was playing the great Ruby Taft.

  4. Need to see her in a movie and they mask her beauty that would be the real test

  5. I’m kind of whelmed out by her. Didn’t like her character in The White Lotus. Also, suggested posts below this one (since she’s the topic of this post) are all posts of images that feature her and her breasts. I guess she still has that alongside her Emmy nomination

  6. I think she’s a decent actress but her looks are what propelled her career, not her acting.  I just looked at her IMDB and her first *movie* role is literally “Pretty Girl” in The Squid and the Whale.

There have been some rough moments, “Do Your Thing, Cuz” from Texas Chainsaw comes to mind.  But just because her good looks got her the opportunity doesn’t mean she can’t and hasn’t grown as a performer.  I do think she was good in White Lotus.  She’ll continue to get opportunities and hopefully can continue to refine her craft because she chose an industry that is downright cruel to most middle aged and older women

  7. In Mayfair Witches and White Lotus she plays boring characters with no personality. I can see why she gets the criticism.

  8. I thought she was good in True Detective and hilarious in BayWatch

  9. She is an average actress, based on what I saw on The White Lotus.

  10. Whatever this cover picture was from I saw that scene online and she was really overdramatized is that scene it did not seem like good acting aside from that I don’t know about her skill level I don’t really watch her

  11. The thumbnail looks like the people with blue eyes meme (the stare)

  12. I haven’t seen a lot of her work but her radio ad for Mayfair witches comes on when I listen to NPR… and it’s pretty cringy and bad.

  13. Y’all are smoking some stuff. I enjoyed as Rowan Mayfair. Doesn’t follow the books, but I enjoy her as the main.

  14. I thought she was good in Why Women Kill and white lotus 🤷🏻‍♀️I like her

  15. Mayfair witches was terrible but that’s not her fault. They ruined the book.

  16. Here’s how you know she isn’t a good actress. She can’t elevate bad material. And she’s chosen a lot of bad material. She’s good in good material. But so is everybody. Beautiful woman though.

  17. lol She’s not a bad actress, she’s just not really good either. She knows why she gets roles and it’s not because of her acting. 🤷🏻‍♂️

  18. In fairness to her, The Mayfair Witches show turned *everyone* on it into bad actors.

They somehow managed to make Ted Levine, Jack Huston, and Beth Grant into bland, boring performers. The only person who’s managed to rise above it is Harry Hamlin.

  19. Meh the only roles I’ve seen her in was white lotus and true detective. Thinking she got them bc she’s good looking and that’s it. Idk would need to see in something else but she’s not really entertaining.

  20. She still needs that one role that lets her show off her depth because the characters she’s played don’t have much substance

  21. I don’t think she’s a bad actress in terms of sucking. She’s not horrible at her job. But I think relative to other actresses in her lane in terms of age, appearance, and role bias, she’s a bad actress as id rarely ever look specifically for her for a role.

  22. There’s no flavor. It’s like bland potatoes

  23. Emmys and Oscars are statues bought by agents and studios for publicity and marketing of films. It has nothing to do with talent.

  24. The Mayfair Witches is a wonderful book trilogy. The show is terrible, because Rowan Mayfair doesn’t exist in it.

  25. She is mid. A good roll got her nominated and that is why she didnt win.

  26. Her bodily assets (eyes and boobs) help a lot. She’s not the greatest actress by any means. I could imagine she is a very confident person and thinks she is great, especially with a team of people always telling you that you are great without giving true and deep constructive criticism.

  27. She always seemed a little wooden to me but I suppose it could be the roles.

  28. Not with the Mayfair performance that’s for damn sure

  29. An Emmy for those tittays in True Detective right

  30. I don’t even know who this person is and I thought I knew all the current faces of Hollywood.

  31. She was also in Why Women Kill. Just not charismatic. I LOVE the Mayfair books but she’s not a good Rowen.

  32. I stopped watching that show because of her. A couple of episodes in I said “nope”

  33. She was terrible in Mayfair Witches. I’ll stand by that even if the entirety of Reddit disagrees with me.

  34. I never have thought of her as a “bad” actress, I’ve just never seen her in something that requires her to display a lot of range. But I’ve seen her be funny on screen and that takes talent. I dont give a shit what anybody says. And I’ve also never seen her as the main “star” of anything. Only in limited capacity roles or as a secondary character.

  35. I don’t think she’s a bad actress, but those awards are massively popularity contests, too.

She’s never going to be “Academy Award Winner Alexandra Daddario”, let’s be real.

  36. Yes yes. Every person who was nominated or won a prestigious acting award EARNED every bit of it. Yes. Yes.

  37. She was good in why women kill, her crazy eyes are top tier
