Mostly you could see nothing between the periodic swathes of kelp and muck, but occasionally Claire saw the side of something scaly and very large flash past. “No, no, I don’t think there’s anything there, just a few fish, Janey” she tried to be reassuring.
She might have to stop looking, though, because if they went past the front of one of these things and it had the teeth she imagined, she might just scream.
