Ukraine is nowhere near to becoming part of NATO now and Putin can own Ukraine whenever he wants. The war ended for Russia with this deal.

As a Scotsman from the UK, I sincerely hope that Britain and France sign an agreement to share and develop a new generation of nuclear weaponry for Europe. Countries such as Poland and Germany could contribute for perhaps missiles to be stationed on land and/or missiles to be loaded on air force jets. Then pay for round the clock submarine protection. France and Britain have deterrents that can be independently fired from the US, but both need renewed and Britain in particular uses a lot of US tech in its nukes at the moment. I hope recent events brings Europe together for the sake of its defence. One valid criticism of the EU is its slow and fragmented governance – some form of federal system (including UK) would really help right now. But I digress. Forget Brexit, more European defence co-operation is needed. We missed the boat on the internet boom, EVs and computing as a continent. We cannot be underprepared for a future global conflict.
The problem is, Zelensky doesn’t actually understand how to speak to Trump, nor apparently any of his advisors. He has never had to deal with a narcissistic self involved child-man in a position of power. Hence this explosive argument. I have respect for Ukraine, but Zelensky should have gotten some major support from his aids from the embassy in Washington. Also, going to Trump in a jumper suit WTF is that… is he going for a jog with Vance in Camp David? Major faux pas to begin with. You have to keep in mind that all Trump wants is to stop US involvement in any and all non-critical conflicts. Ukraine is non-critical for him because he wants to be best buddies with Putin.
