Film fans rejoice! The Oscars, aka the biggest awards night for movie buffs, has just become much more accessible.
Until now those wanting to tune into the Academy Awards had to wait until the following Monday evening to watch the ceremony on Irish TV.
With every news outlet reporting on the results and our social media cluttered up with pics of the best looks from the night and funny goings on, it inevitably feels each year that we’ve already seen the best of the Oscars before actually watching it. Not ideal!

RTÉ has announced that it will be broadcasting the 97th Academy Awards live from midnight on Sunday, March 2, which means now might be the time to phone work and tell them you won’t be in Monday morning.
In its Oscar prediction coverage the broadcaster announced: ‘The 97th Academy Awards take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angles on Sunday night and will be broadcast live on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player from midnight. ‘

Anora is widely predicted to take home the top award on the night in the Best Picture category but faces stiff competition from Conclave.
Adrian Brody is just about edging out Timothée Chalamet in the film critics’ predictions for Best Actor for his performance in The Brutalist.
