  1. These lawsuits are insane, but I bet a bunch of the companies roll over rather than fight the de facto head of the federal government.

  2. Anybody actually familiar with the law able to chime in on this? It seems ridiculous that you can sue someone for not wanting to conduct business with you.

  3. How is it legal to force a company to give another company money for services they do not want or need

  4. Nonsense. You’re going to force advertisers to buy advertising on a platform they don’t support?

I understand they say it’s antitrust, but that’s absurd. Every industry has groups which set up guidelines of behavior across their industries. It would be like a timber home building group being told their colluding against the companies which make those galvanized steel 2x4s.

Twitter is filled with unmoderated hate groups, some of which comes directly from its owner. Why would any advertiser wish to have their products appear next to it?

Also, companies are essentially afforded the same free speech rights as people. The citizens united case is an example.

  5. I can’t believe Nestle is one of the good guys in this scenario but we do live in the worst timeline.

  6. How can a company be compelled by a court to advertise?

  7. So there is a cause of action for not doing business with someone.

  8. Imagine the discovery on this, we don’t want to be on a platform that allows Nazis and hate speech and here are the 2,700 examples of each. I hope they all counter-sue for a frivolous lawsuit

  9. This is nothing more than a shakedown via the courts and an illegal government power play. His lawsuits are clearly frivolous, Musk wants a settlement payout under threat of government obstruction to their businesses.

This is so surreal. What a nightmare.

  10. I don’t understand the “cause of action” of this lawsuit. Can Musk compel other companies to advertise on Twitter?

I even agree that he had some valid points when he took over Twitter… especially in relation to the social network’s promiscuity with government agents… but dont understand this lawsuit

  11. lol – when I saw Elon’s face, I read the reddit group as “conomy” bc he’s a conman instead of “economy”

brains are funny that way I guess

  12. If I was a major X shareholder, I’d be looking to sell my holdings. Musk’s strategy seems like a sure way to scare away any potential advertisers.
If I were one of these companies I’d have real concerns about how Musk will retaliate, as he wields unprecedented unchecked power right now.
    These are strange times.

  13. Musk seeks to be a pain in the ass for these companies since they won’t fall in line for him. This is oligarchy – I have the most money so do what I want or I will make things more difficult.

  14. HOW were they obliged to use his platform????? What LAW forced them to do so?

  15. Haha. Look at the free advertising that he’s giving them. What a dumbass.

  16. Everything is a lawsuit. Musk and Trump do everything without following the law and we need to sue them for every step they make but one speck of anything someone even legally does that hurts their feelings will set them each off on endless litigation.

Our country and our lives need to stop glorifying this type of person.

  17. He should sue everyone. That’s how you get things done. Every mom, dad, child, baby.

  18. Can a company sue another company for not advertising with that company? Is that a thing?

  19. He’s so busy ruining America I forget that he already has a job ruining Twitter

  20. Hey, if Musk and Trump want the whole world against them, let us all show them what it is like.

  21. I can’t make sense of their logic. Elon turns X into a Nazi porn bar, a large number of high profile brands don’t want to be associated with Nazis so they pull their ad spending.

Isnt this how advertising is supposed to work? You run ads where your desired customer can be found to attract more of them and reinforce your brand identity.

Elon is a sad man. He used to be an innovator and competitor. Now he just drags people through court to force them to do what he wants or slow them down. I hope the judge shit cans this suit in record time.
