  3. The meeting was staged only for Trump and co. to look badass while “owning” the “beggar and dictator”. They are literally quoting themselves on twitter right now.

    Like for Zelensky “disrespecting” them for not wearing suit, ignoring that Elon dresses like total redneck in the same room on other occasion and one smoothbrain who doesn’t even know that you should unbutton while sitting down. Also Churchill was in similar attire while doing the same in the 1940s.

  11. From this week, I stopped treating the States seriously – firstly some weird propositions about Gaza, and voting in the UN in line with Russia and North Korea about invasion on Ukraine, and now this. Before the last week, I really liked and respected USA.

  12. I’m Polish and I’m all in on support for Ukraine. Sorry, but this time Zelensky fucked up.

    Trump wanted to show that he can make deals and move things forward, like he promised in his presidential campaign. During press conference Trump and Vance were criticizing Biden and they treated Zelensky OK. Yet Zelensky had to attack Vance and later Trump.

    Zelensky can’t go to US and behave the same way like in Europe, demanding more and more. Europe, including Poland, is constantly forgiving his arrogant behavior. On the other hand US don’t have to support Ukraine at all cost. Zelensky is a brave, tough man but a terrible diplomat.

    Oh, and if someone thinks US with Biden was far far better in helping Ukraine and Europe’s friend, check the money transfers and weapons deliveries – a lot of that was coming late or in smaller amounts than promised. After Trump was elected a lot change on communications side but Trump didn’t stop aid for Ukraine, things were more or less the same.

  19. Simply Poland is NATO and a loyal ally, doing everything necessary to support NATO and the Pax Americana, since decades almost all political parties and governments. Of course the current Polish PM is rather a German asset, but Germany has no real army even to defend itself not to mention help anyone else.. that’s why Poland even now depends on the US and knowing it is a strong supporter of the American world order.

    He may truly believe that NATO’s border should stop at Belarus and he may indeed be fully behind Poland and not behind Ukraine ( which isn’t in NATO after all ).

    Now the problem is whether he truly thinks so or if it is all just a ruse.

    But I guess we’ll be solving this particular riddle soon enough.

    In the meantime Poland shouldn’t make any sudden moves that might jeopardize the Polish-American alliance, if it crumbles Poland shouldn’t be making a first step towards it.

    He knows that Poland stronk, and he likes being with stronk. Putin stronk to, so Trump fetch for him. Ukraine not in strong position so no support.

    However, this are only words, in situation of real conflict, and real decision, he will probably do nothing if he could and go golfing.

    My take is Americans stopped pretending they care about any other value than value of dollars. They replaced this soft power of theirs with power of fist.

  29. I believe that USA can come out of this in a few years, but that shouldn’t change anything for Europe. EU countries are all here. We benefit from a strong European economy and trade. If Poland disappeared from the map Germany would be screwed because of how much trade happens between our two countries. At the end of the day, maybe you can’t count on anybody other than yourself, but we should put most of our efforts into EU integration and joint security.

  32. Trump and the republicans expect zelenskyy and ukraine to basically forget everything that happened and move on in peace and live happily ever after. This is not Disneyland and its not going to work. Ofcourse there is hatred between zelenskyy and putin.

    The narrative has shifted from Putin the tyrant to Zelenskyy the corrupt and evil. In this current climate the only way for ‘peace’ is for zelenskyy to step aside and putin to choose their next leader.

I just hope our polish neighbours – while often emphasising that France and Britain may have not done enough – can start to appreciate that in 1939/1940 only France and UK stood up against the Nazis, while the USA was nowhere to be found until 1941. Oh and the USA even traded with the Vichy regime – about the same as with UK. They even cancelled fighter plane deliveries to France in 1938. Yes. Those that were essential to keep up against the Nazis Luftwaffe.

    To make matters worse they even tried to install Vichy government after 1944 – only De Gaulle and the French resistance stood in the way and made sure it never happened. They wanted to make France a Vassal of the US treating France just like Germany and Italy. France, the first major power who stood up against the Nazis was going to be controlled directly by USA. Roosevelt was the last world leader to recognise De Gaulle as the legitimate leader of France. Even Stalin did before.

    Learning about the fate of other Europeans is instrumental for us to form a united front – for our own interest. Poland needs to work with Germany and with France – it is these three nations that can then effectively lead Europe.

    It took this long. Now its time to move forward.

  40. I believe Trump doesn’t have a strategy and any real end game. He doesn’t seem to care about alliances but about whom he will do business with. For now he believes he can be doing business with Poland and Russia at the same time. And likelihood of Polish and Russian conflict is – in reality – rather low and in nobody’s interest.

  45. Trump can now pretend he care about us, because only we can stop Ukraine now. All ammo and gear is going through Poland. If Poland will decide to listen to USA then Ukraine will collapse. Let’s hope it will never happen.
