After yesterday’s events in the White House, Haltbakk Bunkers, one of Norway’s largest marine fuel companies, appears to have announced that it will no longer refuel American Navy vessels. Haltbakk has called on other European companies to refuse service to American forces.

  2. I’m not sure I follow the logic here. Trump may not provide assistance to Ukraine but they’re still in NATO. Escalating the situation and potentially provoking Trump to withdraw from NATO does not sound like a win for anyone other than Putin.

    Downvote if you want. Justifying actions that benefit Russia based on speculation is shortsighted to me.

  5. Can somebody please collate all of these examples of how the Trump administration is undermining the national security of the United States? Alienating one’s friends and allies is on its face an awful practice. But demonstrably endangering national security should be more than sufficient grounds for impeachment and removal from office.

    It’s not just how Zelenskyy was treated and the specifics of Ukraine being a country that is the victim, that Russia has broken multiple peace deals and at least one treaty.

    It is the contempt the US has for Europe and the narrative around international defence cooperation.

    WE have given more than you to Ukraine. WE came to help you in TWO wars with Iraq, and WE came to the US’s side when the USA invoked article 5 to invade Afghanistan.

    EUROPE has not been leaching off the US. The US is the one who has asked for support! And we were happy to give it, to our ally!

    Europe and NATO are not the reason the US spends so much on defence. That is US domestic policy. YOU choose to spend that money. If Europe is picking up the slack, does that come with a 25% cut to the DoD? No? That’s because the US defence industry is such a pillar of the US economy!

    Europe is not forcing you to spend money on defence. Europe is not milking you for anything. Europe is here for its allies, and expects the same. America was the leader of this team, we were in it together. YOU have decided that doesn’t work any more, when the world is becoming more dangerous. That makes everyone weaker.

    The USA has oceans as moats, so we are not subject to military pressure from our neighbor states. However, we live in a global world of commerce that doesn’t really have borders. The world can easily exert economic pressures against us. If they do it responsibly – against the Trump regime, and not the USA in the abstract – then We the People will some leverage to change our regime from within.

    So, as an American, it sucks that we will have to suffer for a while, but if it helps get us back to being a respected global partner and not a hated crime organization I’m all for it. More please.
