Trump Ends Initiative to Boost Renewables, Electricity in Africa. Power Africa received just over $1B from the US. But that went a long way, enabling a cumulative $29B in power project finance from others. The projects also created $26.4B in contracts for more than 100 US firms.

Independence by generating one’s own energy, off-the grid if the need is there. Distributed generation and storage makes you less vulnerable for all sorts of problems. I’ve never understood why the freedom loving people have not embraced this more.
This guy is just doing his best to burn the whole world down as llong as he can be the king of a pile of ashes.
They just don’t understand soft power, you invest 1 dollar you get 10 dollar return for your businesses. Most will buy Chinese who are already leaders in the field.
Wait….it was 1 billion dollars and it got you 26 billion in contracts…..isn’t that a good business investment or move…..I thought he was a business guy…..I thought the republicans liked spending less money to get lots in return…..
I may not be a casino/developer/seller-of-steaks/water/magazines/red hats like Krasnov is, but, seems like a bad move for many reasons
And then China will step in. And 5 Years From now, Republicans simply won’t understand why China has such a heavy influence over the entire African continent.
No worries. China will take over. Have the good will from the people and then get money. The US is falling apart by its own leadership.
Trump is a moron
In post-colonial Africa, cheap oil and power brought new African nations into the Soviet orbit. Now China will use a similar playbook.
Affordable energy makes and breaks governments and determines trade and alliances. The US is giving up so many of their geopolitical advantages here it is, to an outsider, gobsmacking. I refuse to believe it’s just stupidity as all of these moves are consistent across different areas of economic activity. The only two workable theories that make sense are 1) the current US government is trying (for some reason) to destroy itself as a superpower or 2) the US intends to work with Russia and China to gobble up the world, turning smaller countries into dependent vassal states of one of the three powers.
Trump is ending the initiative to boost renewable energy in here in the US right now. Right here.
Africa? Why would you even ask?
None of those 100 US companies that lost billions of dollars were Trump companies, were they?
Sounds like private business should take over that if they’re the ones profiting from it. It was a good proof of concept but doesn’t seem needed anymore
