  1. Why can’t this guy just wear a damn suit? It’s so disrespectful turning up like that.

  2. May I ask what bargaining chips he has to get resources from European countries? We are just people.

  3. Pleasure to see him surrounded by friends and allies. There was a big crowd to welcome him. I hope his weekend with the European leaders is better than his time in the states!

  4. hope Starmer does not pander to the orange twat and we side on the right side of this

  5. There goes the money we set aside for bankrupt councils

    1. Fuck Trump.
    2. Fuck Putin.
    3. Fuck Musk.

    Welcome to our capital, Zelenskyy.

  8. We’re too broke but we got money for wars, amazing. I love to see the country burn

  9. only difference between keir starmer and trump is starmer will sell out zelenskyy quietly

  10. Would have loved it if Zelenskyy rocked up today in a suit

  11. The UK has a GREAT opportunity to fill the void that the US has left both in Europe and the rest of the world. We’ve had an incredibly stable politics over the last 400 years in hindsight and are in prime position to be the military and economic powerhouse again.

    Please Kier, don’t fumble it!

  12. Zelenskyy tried to align Ukraine with NATO, essentially inviting Russia’s enemy onto their literal doorstep

he’s brave and I do sympathise with him but he was sadly sold false promises of complete protection by European leaders

if Mexico or Canada decided tomorrow to join a military bloc with China, the US would do exactly what Russia did to Ukraine, maybe even worse

in any case, the solution has to be a diplomatic one. I can’t see this war being won by Ukraine on the battlefield even with billions of our tax money

  13. My two cents: I’m for peace and against war, I don’t want a single penny of my taxes to fund the slaughter of more Ukrainians and Russians. They are reporting up to 1 million people died in this war and I find astonishing that people in Europe and in the US, from the comfort of their homes, are still taking sides and considering the continuation of war as a serious solution, they just need to cease fire and make a deal.

  14. Defence is the most important obligation of a government. Our core foreign policy interest is the same as it has been for centuries: preventing any one power from dominating the continent by military force. The sooner Russia is stopped, the less it will ultimately cost to do so, in both blood and treasure.

We’re very lucky Ukraine is willing to do the dying for us. The absolute least we can do is commit to supporting them with the kind of military expenditure we maintained throughout the 70s and 80s, when there was no hot war in Europe and we were a great deal poorer, and America was a reliable ally.

That means doubling defence spending, not inching it up to 2.5% of GDP from 2.3%. And yes, that means cuts to domestic spending that will hurt. The sooner politicians of all parties acknowledge that publicly, the better. The world has got worse. Our lives will get worse as a result. There’s no way to sugarcoat it.

  15. I grew up being taught about WW2 and the courage and courageousness of not only the soldiers, but the leaders of the time. I learned this in school. Since then I considered it a fantasy of sorts. I’m not particularly well educated in the politics since then, and I take a lot of what I know from my parents and TV. But, this is the first time in my life I’ve ever felt truly proud to be British. This moment right here. Those feelings I was taught about. The fearlessness of an ally against an aggression. I know we’re no longer the blighty of old, and we may be a small fish in the game. But fuck. I couldn’t be more proud of this moment and our leader’s decision. Is he Churchill? Probably not. Will his choices go down in history? Without a doubt

  16. Why do all the photos of political leaders lately show them both looking at different cameras and a bit lost? Maybe just me.

  17. I’m not Starmer’s biggest fan on a number of issues but he was so great today, did the country proud.

  18. About 15 years ago I read this conspiracy theory that amongst hyper inflation and the destruction of the middle class, the USA would become isolated and Europe would create its own army. I scoffed at it back then, but times are truly weird now!
