Trump will need some other major event in news to cover up for this disaster. I think they will orchestrate something in a scale of 9/11 or oct7 to silently cut off funding to ukraine in the background
It was a mess, a cringe moment in the art of how not to make a deal and humiliate yourself in public and a net loss for Trump who now has to face a possible looming tariff backlash with an empty $500 billion bag of mineral rights.
How? It started well. Trump even defended Zelensky when asked why he doesn’t wear a suit
I admit I haven’t watched the video, but I have a feeling that it was Vance that knocked it off the rails. His criticism of Zelensky that he hadn’t thanked the U.S. was juvenile. I think of Zelensky as a guy whose country is at war with a dangerous enemy who has had to make many difficult decisions under immense pressure and Vance as a little toadie trying to curry favor with his master.
Z is trying to make demands when really he’s lucky to not be completely overrun they are conscripting amputees and 50 year olds. POtus is just dealing with facts as they are today.
One of them asked Zelensky “why he wasn’t wearing a suit?”

With respect, I find it difficult not to tar all Americans with the same brush but the behaviour of Trump and Vance was disgusting, deplorable, and cringe-worthy. In this day and age, we really shouldn’t have people like them in any leadership positions, full stop. They should be consigned to the history books as examples of ‘not what to do’. And to my American friends, yes, I know not everyone voted for these jokers but a lot of you didn’t even bother to vote, which contributed to this outcome, so surely, there must be some responsibility to assume here.
I am struggling to understand just how it’s possible for like 90% of the coverage of this meeting to have been so absurdly biased or outright false. In what way was this Trump trying to humiliate zelensky? This was a mere press conference after the deal was mostly done and ready to be signed. It was not a negotiation, and yet it all went off the rails when zelensky started dismissing diplomacy and demanding security guarantees for sighning, then trying to shame Trump and Vance when they pushed back. This completely contradicts everything he had previously agreed to and was a blatant attempt to try to use media pressure to change the deal.
No one is going to give security guarantees, committing their citizen’s lives to ukraine’s defense. Especially if it’s not for anything in exchange, and Ukraine has nothing to offer. It’s just not happening. Europe will wagg their fingers and decry the US, but they won’t give those guarantees either, because it’s just not a reasonable demand by zelinski.
